MANUFACTURER INFORMATION |
NuWa Industries, Inc. 3701 Johnson Rd. Chanute, KS 66720 USA Web site: http://www.nuwa.com Founded in 1969, NuWa is the oldest manufacturer of fifth-wheel trailers still in business, and one of four manufacturers who pioneered the fifth-wheel towing concept for RVs. NuWa is still exclusively committed to building fifth-wheels, currently with four model lines, all under the HitchHiker brand name. NuWa is also the inventor of the slide-out concept, having created a unique ball-bearing design in the mid 1970s. Today, every NuWa model has at least one slide-out, and most are electrically operated. NuWa is based in Chanute, Kansas, approximately 125 miles from Kansas City. In the 1980's, NuWa acquired Custom Campers, a smaller RV manufacturer in Chanute. The HitchHiker II LS (Lite-Series) was transferred from NuWa to Custom, so they could focus on smaller, lighter, less expensive fifth-wheels, while the NuWa factory focused on larger, more expensive full-timer trailers. The strategy has been very successful, and now Custom manufactures as many trailers each year as does NuWa. Custom operates independently of NuWa in a different part of Chanute, and has its own service department and staff. Owners Club: HitchHikers of America International Owners Club Benefits:
